The appellation of Carema is extremely small, only 16 hectares are planted to the vine. The Ferrando family controls 2.5 hectares of the appellation. In the hands of Luigi Ferrando and his son, Roberto, produce Nebbiolo in its most complete from. Not as powerful as some Barolos nor as seductive as the finest Barbarescos, the Caremas of the Ferrando family achieve a sophistication and complexity that cannot be matched by either of thesse other two more well known appellations.
